I have been teaching the flute for around 33 years. I am delighted to offer children, teenagers, and adults my teaching services, which are based on a wealth of didactic and pedagogical experience. I teach privately and at the Winterthur Conservatory. Children from around 7 years of age, teenagers, and adults are welcome at any time. In addition to acquiring solid playing technique, knowledge of music notation, and learning pieces from different musical styles, the focus is on the joy of making music and awakening curiosity and creativity. In recent years, overtone singing has become one of my specialities. Overtone singing is the art of singing two notes simultaneously with one voice. More precisely, overtone singing is a vocal technique that filters individual overtones from the sound spectrum of the voice so that they are perceived as separate notes, creating the auditory impression of polyphony. Since overtones are a natural part of the sound of the voice, it can be said that anyone who can speak can also learn overtone singing. Learning and practising overtone singing is much more than just learning a new singing technique. Exploring overtones sharpens the ear and opens up the resonance chambers, which also leads to a clear and melodious speaking and singing voice. Consciously perceiving and training the overtones in your own voice can have a very harmonising and calming effect, as the English term for overtones, ‘harmonics’, suggests.
